National Yoga Awareness Month

Namaste!

Need some stretching, stress relief or different type of exercise? How about yoga? The practice of yoga dates back 5,000 years! Yoga has been proven to help and heal your mind, body and soul. It also increases flexibility, strength and balance.

With several studios in town, you’re sure to find a match for your skill level and interest. And, yoga is not a “one size fits all” exercise – keep trying different classes and instructors until you find your fit!

Located in a quaint studio in downtown Cape, Shakti & Free offers yoga classes for all levels, from beginner sessions to hot yoga and even a barre and Pilates fusion class. Plus, they offer fun teen classes and glow in the dark yoga for special events. Check out their schedule online.

Yoga East Healing Arts Studio has a jam-packed schedule full of various types of yoga classes from “yin yoga,” a running and yoga combo class, to “hot mix” and beginning all access yoga. Truly something for everyone at this studio with morning and evening classes.

How about practicing yoga on the banks of the Mississippi River? Yes, Cape has that, too! The City of Cape Girardeau Parks & Recreation Department offers Riverfront Yoga every Saturday morning June – September at 8:15am. So, make a morning out of it! Yoga, walk to the the farmer’s market, and brunch if you work up an appetite!
