Local Places Ready to Help You with Those Resolutions!

A new year! A healthier you? If your New Year’s resolutions include getting to the gym and eating better, check out the local options to help you achieve your goals!

Saint Francis’ Fitness Plus offers the area’s largest indoor track, group exercise classes from yoga to aquatics, personal trainers, steam rooms, saunas, and much more to get a solid fitness routine in place. Across town, Southeast’s HealthPoint Fitness is the region’s other large gym with programs for ages nine to 90, racket sports, dedicated cycling studios and group exercises classes. City of Cape Fitness and Wellness also has fitness opportunities with group fitness classes, personal training, aquatic fitness, etc.

If smaller gyms are more your speed, try 180 Fitness, open 24 hours a day/7 days a week, offering personal training, weight loss and fitness coaching, nutrition coaching, private karate lessons, boot camp, group fitness classes, online coaching and training and more!

Boxing anyone?  Be Chosen Academy is a different kind of workout, with classes like HIIT boxing, multicultural dance bootcamp, youth fitness classes and now partnering with A La Carte Catering for weekly healthy prepared meals.

Speaking of healthy meals, Cape has several restaurants dedicated to serving food that’s good for you and tastes good, too!

If eating more plants is in your list for 2022, try Trio on Broadway – a 100% plant-based restaurant with menu items like “Cauliwings” (cauliflower buffalo wings), “Jacked Up” (BBQ jackfruit sandwich), salads, smoothies and soups. Downtown is home to Spanish Street Farmacy, a farm -to-table shop with an early 1900s drugstore theme featuring a soda fountain, luncheonette, and fresh market. The dishes showcase local small farms, food artisans, and gardeners focused on clean and healthy foods. Inside Fitness Plus, you’ll find  Fresh Healthy Cafe, whose name says it all! From a refreshing smoothie, salad or a hearty meal, it’s all “fresh and healthy.”

When going out to eat, you can check out VisitCape’s Dining Guide to research menus and preplan your meal, ensuring a healthy choice once you get to the restaurant!
