Top 5 Winter Activities

It’s December. It’s cold. But don’t stay bundled up inside! There are plenty of things to do in Cape Girardeau in the winter months. Join us on a journey through the heart of town this winter, where simplicity meets charm. And, bring your phone along to capture these moments!

  1. Cozy Café and Fireside Chats: Winter can be a reason to gather and share warmth, so why not cozy up by a fire to escape the chill? Don’t have a fireplace at home? Saddle up fireside at Panerafor a sip of steaming cocoa or warm your insides with a bourbon by the fire at Katy O’s Irish Pub before bundling back up and heading outside.

  2. Holiday Photo Opportunity: Grab a hot tea or coffee at The Ground-A-Boutand cross Broadway Street to get some festive photos at 30-foot Christmas tree the Vasterling Suites Courtyard. It is a true sight to see in all it’s merry glory to get you and your family in the holiday spirit! But don’t forget about the tradition that’s been going strong for five years.

  3. A Historic Holiday Tour: If you haven’t made it to The Glenn House for a holiday tour, it’s definitely time! This year’s theme is “An Elemental Christmas” and promises to showcase the various natural elements featured in the Christmas season. Built in 1883, this glorious Victorian house shines bright during the holidays and every time of year. Add it to your list!

Scenic Winter Walk: We typically think about going for a walk when it’s warmer outside, but why not throw on a hat, scarf, gloves and coat to appreciate the sights and sounds of the colder months? It might be a shorter walk than normal, but science says you burn more calories in the winter, it will help you sleep better and the cooler weather boosts your brain. Time to lace up those sneakers!
