National Salad Month

May is National Salad Month! Salads are colorful, healthy, and refreshing options packed with nutrients, and they definitely come in all shapes and sizes! Where’s your favorite salad from? Are you a traditionalist with basic greens, tomato, cucumber, and croutons? Or, do you enjoy something different each time? We prefer to pick up salads from local restaurants instead of buying all the ingredients. Here are some of our top picks!

Have an adventurous palate? Bistro Saffron is known for sushi and fantastic Asian dishes, but have you tried their salads? The Green Papaya Salad will tickle your tastebuds with shredded papaya, carrots, greens, and peanuts topped with a sweet and spicy dressing. Or, try their more traditional grilled chicken or salmon salad. The miso dressing on the salmon salad is a local hidden gem!

We know My Daddy’s Cheesecake for its array of cheesecake flavors and desserts, but they’re also a local hot spot for its variety of a dozen different delicious salads. Some standouts include the Santa Fe Salad topped with tortilla strips and their famous chili or grilled chicken, and the Mandarin Orange Chicken salad featuring pecans, Craisins, onions, and poppyseed dressing.

Now with two locations and a drive-thru, FRESH Healthy Cafe has perfected the modern bowl-version of salads. What’s not to love? A bunch of healthy ingredients piled high with veggies and extras like the Buddha Bowl with quinoa, spinach, and hummus or the Fiesta Bowl with chicken, romaine, black beans, corn, and avocado. So many healthy choices!

Secret tip ahead! Did you know you can purchase the amazing ginger dressing from Watami? You can. And it’s just as wonderful at home…and you can use as much as you want!
