Fabulous Fall Day in Cape

Fall is a season that beckons cozy sweaters, hot apple cider, and a gentle reminder to slow down and savor the simple pleasures of life before the craziness of the holidays is upon us. VisitCape has developed a curated list of fall-inspired stops throughout town.

Morning Stroll on a Trail

The day begins with a leisurely walk in the midst through fall foliage at the Cape Girardeau Nature Center’s two miles of wooded trails where you’ll see sinkholes, ravines and deep hallows in addition to various wildlife species and ponds.  For more trails, check out our Trails Page.

Coffee at a Cozy Café

A visit to a cozy café is a must. In fact, park downtown and stay to enjoy the weather and shop with your coffee in hand or pause to enjoy a warm cup of joe at The Ground-A-Bout! The café’s windows or sidewalk tables offer a front-row seat to the town’s bustling Broadway Street. With a season menu of pumpkin rolls, Monster Marsh coffee(pistachio and toasted marshmallow) or The Wickerman (mocha and cayenne), you can easily get into the fall spirit!

Exploring an Antique Store

Wandering into Annie Laurie’s, you’ll find a treasure trove of eclectic finds. From vintage lamps and Levi’s to furniture and knickknacks of all kinds to peruse, you will be busy for hours!  There’s something for everyone so keep your Christmas list in mind as you roam from room to room. Don’t forget they all so have fresh florals and plants galore! Oh, and fresh baked breads if you’re lucky to be there on a day when the oven has been fired up!

There are so many great stops in town, we hope you find some of your own special places every season of the year.
