Couples Date Night Ideas

February 14…Valentine’s Day! A day people honor their love for one another. Some send flowers, chocolates or notes of admiration. Don’t worry, you still have a few weeks to make plans, and we have some fun and unique ideas for your Valentine’s date night!

This year, the special day falls on a Monday…so we looked at events happening the weekend before and there’s even one special event the day of!

Dinner:

When going out to eat, be sure to check out VisitCape’s Dining Guide to research menus and options around town. For a fun atmosphere with others, consider Watami Sushi & Hibachi Steakhouse or Shogun Japanese Sushi and Hibachi where you’ll watch the meal being made by highly entertaining chefs and just might get a piece of broccoli tossed to you from the cook! If a romantic dinner for two is more your thing, check out 36 Restaurant & Bar, Celebrations Restaurant (featuring a Valentine’s Day four-course tasting menu) or take in the sights of the city from Top of the Marq.

Movies:

Movies are always a top date night option but remember to get your tickets ahead of time! Especially for Cape West Cinema’s special event for the ladies: Magic Mike: Galentine’s Day Event! This one-time-only showing takes place Sunday, February 13th at 2 pm! Remember they have food and a bar now!

Family Date Night:

Want to plan a date full of fun? How about throwing axes, bowling, playing pool or giant Jenga? Then Dogwood Social House is your place! And, they have food, drinks and even an arcade if you want to make it a family date night!

Strike! Another family date night idea in Cape is cosmic bowling!!! West Park Lanes turns off the lights and into a family fun zone and is open until 10 pm. Cosmic bowling is offered Fridays and Saturdays from 9-12 pm.  With a full-service snack bar, lounge and video arcade for the kids, they offer something for everyone!

Massage:

Day date? Instead of evening dinner, maybe enjoy a nice lunch, then surprise your loved one with a relaxing couples massage at Eden Health Spa & Salon in downtown Cape.

Cooking Class:

Spice it up with a cooking class at Gabriel’s Food and Wine in downtown Cape as a couple or with friends. On Tuesday, February 15, you’ll learn to make homemade pasta in the form of lobster ravioli and end the meal with delicious limoncello tiramisu while enjoying wine and appetizers!

Music:

There are a few options on Saturday, February 12 if music is at the top of the list. First up is Jason Heeter at Beacon 53 located inside Century Casino complete with food specials and cocktails. Or catch Bongo Jak at Ebb and Flow Fermentations. What is Bongo Jak?  He’s a solo performer who sings and plays numerous different musical instruments into a foot-operated recording device called a LoopStation, which enables him to perform as a solo act, yet sound like a full band. He adds flow artists (hula-hoops) and other musicians to his show as well. It’s sure to be a sight to see! And check out Ebb & Flow’s ever-changing menu of food and brews!

Comedy:

Laughter is always the right choice! Laughing Gas is featuring comedian Aaron Weber from February 10-12 with a special show on Valentine’s Day. Weber is a standup comedian out of Nashville and the youngest standup comedian ever to perform at the Grand Ole Opry. The Valentine’s date night show package includes two tickets to the show and complimentary champagne.

Pottery:

Interested in reenacting the famous scene from “Ghost” at the pottery wheel? Riverside Pottery Studio can help! They’re offering Valentine’s date nights February 11-13 with a range of times available, but you must get registered. These go quick, so don’t wait!

We hope these ideas have inspired you to plan the perfect Valentine’s date!
