Here’s what is cookin’ this weekend in Cape Girardeau!

Captain Hook and his pirates continue to try to get their hands on Peter Pan, the Lost Boys, Tinker Bell and Wendy in Never Never Land!  Peter Pan continues at the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall at the River Campus on Friday February 28 at 8 p.m., Saturday March 1 at 2 p.m. and Sunday March 2 at 2 p.m.  Tickets are $17-$20.  I got a chance to see the final dress rehearsal Tuesday night and had a fantastic time; read more about what you’ll see at the show here.

Music fans have their choice of events this weekend, with live entertainment at the Lone Wolf, a blues festival and a concert at the Show Me Center!  Swing by Isle Casino Cape Girardeau’s The Lone Wolf Friday night to hear the Mike Renick Band and Saturday night to hear Jaded (shows are 21 & up).  Live entertainment at The Lone Wolf is free and the bands will play from 8 p.m.-midnight Friday and Saturday night.  Show details are available here.

Chicago Blues Giant Rocking Johnny Burgin, Bruce Zimmerman and the Water Street Band, vocal legend Big Larry Williams, “The Blues Boss” Kenny Wayne and local favorites the John Ivas Band will all provide tunes at the 3rd annual Cross Rivers Blues Festival at Port Cape.  Get there early for good seats!  Appetizers by Port Cape are included in the $18 ticket price, and the blues festival takes place Saturday from 6 – 10 p.m.  Learn more here.

Third Day and Skillet take the stage at the Show Me Center Sunday, March 2.  Atlanta-based band Third Day has racked up 27 No. 1 radio singles, and Skillet’s last album, Awake, became one of just three rock albums to be certified platinum in 2012.  Tickets start at $20 and go up to $99.  Find out more here.

For the 21 and up crowd, be sure to uncork some fun at Hunter Valley Winery’s 2nd annual Mardi Gras Party on Saturday, March 1!  Cajun food, the band Whiplash and beads galore.

Mardi Gras Party information can be found here.

Cheer on the Redhawks Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams as they take on Murray State on Saturday, March 1.  The women play at 3 and the men’s game starts at 5:30.  Ticket prices range from $3-$20, additional details are available here.

What are you big plans for the weekend?
