Let’s Hit the Links!

August is National Golf Month! What a great time of year to dust off your clubs and explore our area’s four fabulous courses! They each offer facilities to entice beginning golfers to start a new hobby as well as challenge long-time, expert golfers.

Established in 1921, and celebrating their centennial this year, Cape Girardeau Country Club is located on the beautiful banks of the Mississippi. Featuring upscale dining as well as a casual bar and grill, the club also boasts a swimming pool and six state-of-the-art outdoor pickleball courts.

Across town, the Gary Nicklaus designed Dalhousie Golf Club was ranked as the #1 course in Missouri Golf Digest from 2007 to 2010. Named for the Scottish Earl of Dalhousie whose family settled near Cape Girardeau, the club features both fine and casual dining inside the 15,000 square foot clubhouse and a 15-acre practice facility. The club also includes overnight cottages for out-of-town guests or national members. Dalhousie has received several national awards including Golf Inc.’s 2009 “Top Clubhouse of the Year” and ranked by Rolex as one of the “Top 1000 Golf Courses in the World.” The course has hosted several major golf events such as the 2015 USGA Women’s Team Championship and four AJGA championships.

As the only public course in the area, Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course began as 9-hole golf destination in the late 1970s. The course now features 18 holes that underwent renovation in 2010, providing a challenging round from beginners to pros. The Jaycee course is open year-round! And, you can book a tee time online!

Bent Creek Golf Course in Jackson was designed in 1989 and features a meandering creek that comes into play on at least seven holes, offering a challenge to all golfers. Bent Creek’s bar area offers a casual place to gather with friends before or after your round for drinks and a bite to eat. Get your group together and book a tee time on their website!
