It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

It’s time to kick off the holidays! Join Santa Claus as he flips the switch during downtown Cape Girardeau’s 3rd annual Christmas Tree Lighting on November 26! The festivities take place at 151 N. Fountain Street in the Vasterling Suites Courtyard for this holiday tradition!

Then on November 28, bundle up your family and drive downtown for the 29th Annual Parade of Lights down Broadway. The parade begins at dusk with a theme of “Ringing in the Holidays in Old Town Cape.”

Next up, be part of the crowd when downtown Cape comes alive with caroling, pictures with Santa and the Grinch, family activities inside Santa’s Workshop, horse-drawn carriage rides, etc. during the annual Downtown Holiday Open House Friday, December 3 and Saturday, December 4. Stores will be open for holiday shopping, restaurants will welcome you in for a warm meal and you’re sure to go home in the holiday spirit!

Also on December 4 is Old Town Cape’s Holiday Bazaar. This outdoor event features vendors that offer locally grown, handcrafted, and homemade products such as winter produce, baked goods, candies, and artisan crafts. Vendors will also be accepting holiday baking orders and orders for customized gifts. Guests can expect to find their favorite Cape Riverfront Market vendors, as well as new seasonal vendors. The bazaar is located on Fredrick Street between the blocks of Broadway Street and Themis Street.

Another fun family tradition is Southeast Missouri State University’s percussion ensemble’s annual Family Holiday Concert, December 11, at 10:30 am and 2 pm in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall at Southeast’s River Campus.
