Explore the great outdoors in Cape Girardeau with your camera at the following spots local photographers favor!

Drew Wright is a local disc golfer and photographer, and Cape County Park North is one of his preferred photo spots.  “I play disc golf there often, and I encounter a lot of great photo opportunities as I make my way through the park. The pond at sunset is especially hard to resist.”

Jessica Sexton always knows what’s happening in Cape Girardeau!  “I spend most of my time outdoors either downtown at Tunes at Twilight, along the riverfront, or enjoying a long walk on the Cape LaCroix Recreation Trail. Most of my favorite Instagrams from #CapeGirardeau are from these perennial outdoor pleasures our town has to offer.”

James Baughn is the webmaster at the Southeast Missourian, and writes the Pavement Ends blog.  He says that “One of my favorite local spots is Cape LaCroix Bluffs Conservation Area. Located near the SEMO Port between Cape Girardeau and Scott City, this conservation area features limestone bluffs, narrow canyons, and even a natural arch large enough to walk through. On a clear day when the leaves are off the trees, the bluff tops offers views of the Emerson Bridge, Academic Hall, and even Bald Knob Cross (23 miles away as the crow flies). This is not an easy hike, as it’s necessary to leave the trail and bushwhack to find the natural arch and best views, but the adventure is well worth it.  Directions to this and many other local places can be found at my Pavement Ends blog, which includes an interactive map of hiking destinations, color coded by difficulty.”
