Celebrating Your Southeast Graduate in Cape Girardeau

Experience the town your graduate has called their home-away-from-home when you visit on May 16 for Spring Commencement at Southeast Missouri State University!

If you arrive in town early on Friday, put on your dancing boots and head to the 11th Annual Western Swing Music Showcase!  If you’d rather listen to music under the stars, Tunes at Twilight will certainly entertain you.

Saturday, graduation day, it is worth waking up early to check out the Cape Riverfront Market.  Once again, here you will have a chance to hear live music as well as shop around for anything from locally grown fruits, vegetables and baked goods (debatably the very best doughnuts you have ever eaten) to meats, nuts, cheese and syrup plus arts and crafts.  The market is a great place to grab a coffee or lemonade and hang out with friends and family around the patio tables under the shade trees.

Learn some fascinating history while giving the youngsters something to do at Children’s Historic Games at Bollinger Mill.

Graduating college can surely work up an appetite, and thankfully we have over 120 restaurants to choose from here in Cape Girardeau.  Just in case the family doesn’t feel like sleeping in a dorm room, here is a list of places to stay for the night.

There is some much to see here in Cape Girardeau that you won’t be able to get to it all in this one weekend – that’s okay though, you can always visit again! Here is a list of some other activities Cape Girardeau has to offer throughout the weekend.
