Warm Up and Find your Hygge at these Cozy Spots in Cape Girardeau

Hygge is the Danish quality of “coziness and comfortable conviviality,” and you can find your hygge at one of these exceptionally cozy spots in Cape Girardeau.

Stop by Baristas for a coffee, hot tea or hot chocolate. Their cafe in the Marquette tower has views onto Broadway and a fabulous classic vibe, but you’re welcome to enjoy your purchases in the Marquette Building’s incredible 1920’s lobby with cushy couches and chairs, a fireplace, and character galore.

Another cozy spot for coffee is Cup ‘N Cork in downtown Cape Girardeau. You can’t find a better spot to study, read or get away from it all for a little while.

Katy O’Ferrell’s is Cape Girardeau’s only Irish restaurant, and it’s a cozy, comfortable spot for lunch or dinner in the dining room with a fireplace and warm wood paneling. Gather around the chef’s table at Gabriel’s and watch the world go by on Main Street while you slurp up fire roasted tomato soup off their winter menu.

Draw up a chair and settle in with a pair of provided binoculars and watch the birds and wildlife right outside the floor to ceiling windows at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center, pictured up above. The nature center has the uncanny ability to bring the outdoors inside, perfect for a blustery day when it’s too cold to be out!

Cozying up with a good book is the pinnacle of all things hygge, and the Cape Public Library has comfortable chairs you can sink right in to scattered throughout their modern library space that just beg to be sat in. Lots of windows and reading spaces tucked behind bookshelves are waiting for you to grab a book and put your feet up.

Come in out of the cold and warm up in Cape Girardeau! Share your cozy adventures, use #VisitCape.
