Description:

The Community Counseling Center Foundation will host their annual Superheroes Have a Heart for Kids Luncheon on Thursday, February 15, 2023 at Drury Plaza Conference Center in Cape Girardeau. Doors will open at 11:30 am

The event will raise funds for the Community Counseling Center’s Children’s Services Division, including Cottonwood Inpatient Diversion/Residential Treatment, Youth Day Treatment, School Based Counseling, and Outpatient services.   Children’s Services helps children ages 5-18 (some cases up to 21 years) with chronic and persistent mental health disorders, avoid psychiatric hospitalization and continue to live within the community.  They provide a place where children can get the support, therapy, and education services they need while avoiding hospitalization.

Under Children’s Services programs, the Center also provides School Based Therapy in its five-county service area, which includes: Cape Girardeau, Perry, Bollinger, Madison, and Ste. Genevieve counties.  School Based Therapy is provided on-site at designated school sites.  School Based Therapists provide individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, assessments, education and whatever else the school may need to address the mental health of the students.  School Based Therapy is provided year-round, but services during times when school is not in session is provided either in the home or in an office setting.

According to Michelle Ramsey, Senior Development Officer, the Superheroes Have a Heart for Kids luncheon has seen growing attendance each year since its beginning in 2018.  “Our goal for the Superheroes Have a Heart for Kids fundraising luncheon, is to increase our event attendance once again, and share the wonderful work that is being done throughout our service area.  This is such a great event, and it’s a luncheon- so we just hope that everyone will come out and support our work we do right here in our community,” Ramsey stated.

Ramsey continued, “Through this event, we will raise much needed funds designated solely to Children’s Services so that we can continue to help meeting our youth clients’ needs, while ensuring that the Center can sustain and grow the Children’s Services programs to provide the help needed for our children today and tomorrow.”

The luncheon is open to the public.  Anyone who wants to be a superhero and have a heart for children is invited to attend.  It is an opportunity for you to be inspired by truly amazing stories of the many lives have been impacted over the years by our healing and helping services.   Reservations to the luncheon are suggested.  Individual tickets are $35, and a table of 8 is $250, and are available through Eventbrite, or at the door.  Several sponsorships are also still available.
