You can’t go wrong with all the fun happening in Cape Girardeau this month, here’s the full scoop:

Music

June is a very musical month in Cape Girardeau!  The Cape Girardeau Municipal Band performs every Wednesday night this month, and programs include Americana, Rock Around the Clock, Movie Themes and March Madness.  

Tunes at Twilight is still rocking and rolling into their spring season.  Sabrina and Tony, an updated folk rock group perform on June 5.  The Moore Brothers take the stage at the Common Pleas Courthouse Gazebo on June 12, and Kira Small is a one-of-a-kind vocalist with R&B and soul songs; check her out at Tunes on June 19.  

Bollinger Mill hosts the Chestnut Mountain Gang, a bluegrass and gospel band from Southeast Missouri, on June 7.  Listen to sounds of the Chestnut Mountain Gang, a bluegrass and gospel band from southeast Missouri, along the Whitewater River at Bollinger Mill’s Spring Concert on June 7.

Markets

The freshest local produce around is at Cape Girardeau’s two farmer’s markets.  The Cape Farmer’s Market is located behind West Park Mall every Thursday from noon – 5 p.m., and the Cape Riverfront Market keeps downtown hopping on Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. – noon.  

Family Fun

Hike and test your nature knowledge on National Trails Day at the Nature Center’s Trail Trivia on June 6 or try your hand at archery, fishing or canoeing at Family Skills Sampler also on June 6.

Storyteller Chris Everett brings Mother Goose and her timeless rhymes to life at Born Learning: Mother Goose on Saturday, June 6 at the Cape Public Library.

Kids ages 5-12 can learn all about the importance of local, fresh food at the Marketeers Club, a free program at the Cape Riverfront Market the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month.  Stop by the market anytime between 8 a.m. and noon June 13 and 27 for your little one to participate.

The Force will be with you at the Cape Public Library’s popular Star Wars program on Saturday, June 13.  Renew your Jedi skills with games, crafts and snacks for ages 6-12.  Members of the Rebel Legion and the 501st Legion will be available for photo opps!

Enjoy all of your Dr. Seuss favorites at Seussical the Musical, playing at the River Campus June 18-21, June 21, June 25-28. 

The Summer Arts Festival is back this year with a full (and free!) day of live music, magic, hands on family friendly art expression activities and much more on Saturday, June 20.

Your dumptruck/firetruck/etc-loving kiddo will have a ball at the 4th Annual Wheeled Wonders, in the parking lot across the street from Discovery Playhouse on Saturday, June 20.

Learn how to draw cartoons at the Cape Public Library on Monday, June 22 at Cartooning with Chris McBrien for ages 9-12.

Arts

Four-legged friends are taking over the First Friday Art walk on June 5!  Bring your furry friend and enjoy the monthly gallery stroll plus pet caricatures, pet photography, an adoption event, doggie treats, a costume contest and more.

Enjoy a romantic comedy circa 1600 at the Capaha Park Band Shelter on June 12 and 13, as Acting Out! performs Shakespeare’s 12th Night.
