Take a Hike! Or a Bike!

As the temperature changes, it’s a great time of year to get outside and take a hike or bike ride. Whether you grab a friend, your family or use the time for yourself, being outdoors has many health benefits.

According to WebMD, hiking outdoors has plenty of perks like nice views, fresh air, and the sounds and smells of nature. And, being outdoors can lower your blood pressure and feelings of stress!

The city of Cape has many locations to get outside for a hike, walk or bike ride. Cape Girardeau’s trail system consists of the following paved paths: Cape LaCroix Trail with total mileage of 6.03 miles, the Riverfront Walkway with 1.25 miles, Capaha Park with right under a mile and Bloomfield Road Trail totaling 1.4 miles.

If you want more of a nature trail, check out the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center located within Cape County Park North, which is home to two miles of nature trails that winds up and down hills through the trees.
