Summer Dining in Cape Girardeau

Whether your idea of summer dining is cocktails with friends on an open patio or the crunch of fresh veggies in a crisp seasonal salad, Cape Girardeau has exactly what you’re looking for – from quaint eateries to local organic produce.

Alfresco dining

Many of Cape Girardeau’s restaurants provide patios where you can soak up some sun and enjoy a breeze while dining on anything from pasta to sweet treats. It’s the perfect setting to indulge in some people-watching too. You may even see a local celebrity.

Cape Girardeau’s restaurants with outdoor dining include Ciao, Bella Italia, The Bar and Bistro Saffron. Plus, the new Buffalo Wild Wings offers two patio areas – one on the second story. For a complete list of local dining options, click here

Food trucks

Cape Girardeau’s food trucks provide the perfect solution when your family can’t agree on what’s for dinner: Everyone orders what they want, then you meet for an outdoor picnic.

Food Truck Friday, hosted at various times throughout the year, brings vendors together in one spot while offering live music.

Farmers Markets

Summer isn’t summer without fresh tomatoes, green beans and strawberries. Drooling yet?

The Cape Farmers Market brings together local gardeners, bakers and cooks, who sell a variety of delicious veggies, fruits, plants, baked goods and other items. There’s no telling what you’ll find when you stop by on Thursdays from noon to 5 p.m. in the West Park Mall parking lot.

If your Thursday schedule is packed, head downtown on Saturday mornings between 8 a.m. and noon for the Cape Riverfront Market. In addition to produce, the Riverfront Market boasts more than 40 vendors, live musicians and demonstrations involving everything from cooking to lassos. Pets and kids are welcome.

Summer in Cape Girardeau isn’t just about food – although that’s a big part of it. There are also museums, parks, waterslides and more. Come for the food; stay for the fun.
