Stop and Smell the Roses

Driving back to the office from lunch last week, I cruised by the Rose Garden inside Capaha Park and was quickly turning the car around seconds later. The spring rains we’ve had lately have brought the most beautiful rainbows of color to the Rose Garden and they had caught my eye!  Here’s a little background information on this pretty corner of Capaha Park:

The Rose Garden in the northwest corner of Capaha Park was established in the mid 1950’s and has been providing a peaceful place to enjoy a wide selection of rose varieties ever since. This garden has been certified as a Rose Test Garden by the All-American Rose Selections and is one of only 10 certified as such nationwide.  Volunteers from local garden clubs maintain the garden, and there are also azalea and butterfly gardens enhancing the entrance.  Roses are blooming on and off at the Rose Garden from mid-spring to fall.

Most of all, I wish I could transport the smell of this place through your screen, because it was heavenly!  Sometime soon, stop by the Rose Garden, kick back on one of the benches, close your eyes and inhale deeply and wander the rows reading the names of all of the different flower varieties.
