Spooktacular Cape Girardeau

Do you love all things scary and spooky? Do you like to learn about specters and spirits? If you answered yes to both of those questions, you need to get here. Cape has all you need to get your adrenaline pumping this spooky season.

The Glenn House
If you want to feel chills rundown your spine, you must check out the Glenn House. Built in 1883 for David A. Glenn, the Glenn House is a true masterpiece, preserved in all of its Victorian Era glory.
But don’t let its class and beauty fool you, the Glenn House has been known to scare people away. Some have reported hearing the sound of children laughing, footsteps and felt breezes on the staircase. At Christmastime gifts are used to decorate the house, some volunteers have reported finding them unwrapped when they came in for their shift.

 Annie Laurie’s
Finding a great antique store with the perfect vintage buys is always a win. Well, if you love a good vintage find and a bit of frightening spiritual activity, you’ll want to make a stop here. Annie Laurie’s is located where an old mortuary and funeral home, called Brinkoff Funeral Home, once stood. One of the rooms used to be an embalming station and ghoulish activity is reported there regularly.

Port Cape
Grab a bite to eat at Port Cape, you may find yourself dining in the presence of a spirit or two. It’s said this spot may have been a stop for General Grant while he was stationed here during the Civil War.  He was also said to have been a bit of a ladies’ man and that one prostitute, named Belle, he was with was so sad when Grant moved from the area, she jumped out of one of Port Cape’s 2nd story windows. Even today people report her spirit haunting the restaurant.
