Shopping & Shows: Girlfriends’ Weekend Getaway

Rally the girls and bring your holiday shopping list to Cape Girardeau on November 22 and 23 for a girls weekend getaway with arts and crafts shows, shopping, dining and more!

Three different arts and crafts fairs fill five venues throughout Cape Girardeau all weekend long.  On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the 19th Annual Crafts, Gifts and Collectibles Show is open for business at Notre Dame High School.  On Saturday and Sunday, the Show Me Center and the Osage Centre will be filled to the brim with over 300 different booths selling unique handmade items at the 44th Annual Christmas Arts and Crafts Extravaganza!  Also on Saturday and Sunday, the River Valley Craft Club Christmas Expo features crafts galore at the Arena Building and the 4H Hall.   In addition, a Holiday Shopping Bazaar can be found at the Armory on Saturday.

Stroll the charming downtown area and wander through local shops highlighting boutique apparel, one-of-a-kind antiques, handmade jewelry and other special items for all of the loved ones on your list this holiday season.

Saturday night is slumber party time!  Have a ball in a historic downtown apartment that’s yours for the weekend, or cozy up at a local hotel or bed and breakfast.  Hit the town and choose from over 120 restaurants for dinner, before checking out the nightlife on the roof deck with views of the Mississippi River at Keller’s inside Isle Casino Cape Girardeau.

Round out the weekend with the performing arts – the Trans Siberian Orchestra performs Friday night, and Southeast Missouri State University Dance faculty and students put on Fall for Dance Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  See the world of Gone Girl on a driving tour of major filming sites, as the blockbuster hit was filmed in Cape Girardeau in the Fall of 2013.

It’s a weekend to remember with your favorite ladies in Cape Girardeau before the craziness of the holidays take over!
