Random Acts of Kindness

Have you ever been the recipient of a random act of kindness? It could be something as simple as your coffee being purchased by the car in front of you at the drive-thru or a sweet note sent to you in the mail. Whatever it may have been, those kind of moments are ones that stand out. Ancient Greek storyteller, Aesop, summed it up best, “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”
November 13th is World Kindness Day and we think it is only fitting to celebrate this day by sharing some of the kind things that have been done for us or tips for how to share the kindness!

Brenda Newbern, VisitCape Executive Director
“A person that I share time with on committees and projects dropped by my office to bring me a piece of Red Velvet cake. Since we don’t see each other very much during these COVID times, it made my heart smile just to be thought about!”
It really is the little things in life that can make the greatest difference. Just by taking the time to say hello to someone you haven’t seen in a while, you can have an incredible impact. Here in Cape there are so many opportunities around you to make this kindness an actuality.

Alyssa Phares, VisitCape Senior Director of Sales and Strategy
“2020 has been a different and difficult year for us all and in a multitude of ways. I think the important thing to remember is to care about others and remember that what we believe may not be the same for everyone else and….that is okay. I think a great way to show compassion and caring during this time of uncertainty is to wear a mask when guided to and be respectful of each other. We are all walking this path in life a little uncertainly.”
During this pandemic time, one of the greatest ways to show kindness is by following COVID precautions and respecting the comfort level of those around you. It’s an easy thing to do to show others you care. As the Dalai Lama once said, “I truly believe that compassion provides the basis of human survival.”

It truly is easy to make someone else’s day by doing something simple and kind. There are plenty of opportunities around you to do good for others each day. Please remember to spread kindness and positivity wherever you may go!
