New Year: New Hobby? It’s National Hobby Month!

January is National Hobby Month! Time to join a book club, running club, take up golfing, make pottery…the list is endless! And we do all these things right here in Cape!

When you think books, you think of the library, right? Right! The Cape Girardeau Public Library is your source for a unique book club – “Books on Tap: A Social Book Club,” which meets the first Tuesday of each month at Ebb & Flow Fermentations in downtown Cape for a themed book club. Or, gather a group of friends and start one of your own!

For fitness hobbies, Missouri Running Company organizes group runs including both competitive and social runs/walks and both Cape Bicycle Fitness and Cyclewerx can visit with you about cycling clubs.

Want to learn to golf or help your golf game improve so you’re ready for spring? The Teehouse Complex has you covered! Now offering TrackMan, an indoor golf simulator, you can “play” some of the world’s finest courses! The Teehouse Complex offers in-depth practice sessions, custom club fitting and more!  If you haven’t been to The Teehouse in a while, they also have family-friendly games!

How about learning to make pottery? Yes, Cape is home to a pottery studio! Riverside Pottery Studio, located in the former synagogue on Main Street, hosts classes for those learning to use the pottery wheel, mug workshops an and date nights once a month. So, even if it doesn’t turn into a hobby, you can have a fun time trying to make something to take home!
