Makers Gonna Make: Locally-Owned Craft Shops in Cape Girardeau

When you hit the arts and crafts fairs throughout Cape Girardeau on November 18, 19 and 20 and inspiration for a creation of your own strikes, turn to one of these locally-owned craft shops to bring your idea to life!

The Golden Needle has nearly 3500 bolts of quilting cotton for you to browse, from high quality solids to designer prints in every color of the rainbow to bring your next sewing project to life.  Kits, patterns and notions are also available as are sewing and embroidery machines and quilting frames.  The expertise in the hands of the women who run this shop is priceless, and they’re happy to talk you through a project as you pick out your goods.  *Open Monday – Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

You won’t be able to keep your hands off of the delectable yarns at The Tangled Yarn; everything begs to be touched.  From the softest pastel yarns perfect for a hat or blanket for the little ones in your life to on-trend, bulkier-weight yarns in updated colors for a scarf or gloves for yourself, Cindy has it all.  She also offers classes to teach you the ropes, and is enormously helpful in what to choose as you plan your next foray into yarn.  *Open Tuesdays, 5:30 – 8 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays 10 a.m. – 6p.m.

Yearning 4 Yarn is another local yarn shop with an ample selection of high quality yarn, as well as spinning wheels, spindles and the wool to create your yarn, weaving thread and more.  If you’re looking for locally produced yarn products, this is your store.  Dawn is happy to teach you how to knit or crochet, and just like Cindy at The Tangled Yarn, Dawn’s helpful and knowledgeable  spirit as you plan your next creation is invaluable. *Open Tuesday – Friday, 4 – 7 p.m., Saturdays 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sundays Noon – 5 p.m.
