Make the Most of National Fruit & Veggie Month Here

Even Sir Paul McCartney loves getting in his veggies, “So, if I’m cooking, I’ll be making steaming vegetables, making some nice salad, that kind of stuff.”

As much as we think it’s cool to be like Sir Paul, we honestly love fruits and veggies just for the fact that they’re super yummy and help keep us healthy.

If you’re like us, then June is the perfect time to celebrate your fruit and veggie habit. It’s National Fresh Fruit and Veggie month and here in Cape we’re fortunate to have some amazing options available to us.

Of course, you can always go to one of our many grocery stores to get your produce, but we want to highlight some of our other local options.

First, we have two incredible open-air farmers’ markets in Cape.

The Riverfront Market takes place in downtown Cape on Saturdays from  8 AM to 12 PM during the summer. Local vendors come with the freshest fruits and vegetables around – straight from their farm to you. You can find produce from A to Z here; apples, melon, microgreens, spinach and more!

And while you’re there, grab a craft lemonade or maybe even a homemade donut…. don’t worry, if you’re stocking up on fruits and veggies, it’ll all balance out. They even have handcrafted items, plants & flowers and various other assorted goods.

The Cape Farmers Market happens Thursdays from 12 PM to 5 PM at the West Park Mall parking lot during the summer. Much like the Riverfront Market, the Cape Farmers’ Market has many local vendors. You can find okra, tomatoes, peppers, peaches, berries, carrots and all the other seasonal produce you can imagine. If you need to grab a meal while you’re there, there are several food trucks available to stop by too!

If you’re looking for a subscription of yummy local produce, check out the Spanish Street Farmacy Victory Box.
The folks at Spanish Street Farmacy will curate a box of “locally grown and organic foods” just for you. And while their expertise will help you try some new, tasty finds, they will accommodate the box to meet your food preferences!
You can choose from so many things. From greens and radishes to peaches and plums, figs and elderberries to squash and pumpkin, there are items to fit anyone’s taste. And while you’re stocking up on the produce options, check out the other things you can get! Nuts and seeds, meats, baked goods, beans and grains and far beyond.

So now you know the secret of where to get the best local produce in Cape. We hope you’ll celebrate National Fruit & Veggie Month with us!

If you go to one of the places we mentioned, let us know what you get!
