Labor Day Weekend Events

As a federal holiday, Labor Day acknowledges the contributions and achievements of American workers and for many people, symbolizes the end of summer and start of the school year. If you’re looking for family-friendly activities to do this weekend, Cape has you covered!

Friday evening, bring your picnic baskets and lawn chairs to Tunes at Twilight, now located in the River Campus Park at the intersection of S. Spanish Street and Morgan Oak for live music at 6:30 pm. Food trucks will be lined up ready to serve!

Did you know the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center, located within Cape Girardeau’s North County Park is home to a two-headed snake? And, the snake is turning 16! Come celebrate at the Ssssweet Sssixteen Birthday Party Saturday, September 4th, at 1 pm including games, crafts, and refreshments. Auditorium presentations will take place at 1 pm and 2 pm followed by a meet-and-greet with the twins.

Also, remember to stop by the Cape Riverfront Market on Spanish Street Saturday between 8 am and noon for fresh produce, locally raised meats, assorted baked goods, artisan crafts, and options for breakfast and lunch!

Cape Riverfront Flea Market is back! And, with over 30 vendors from Missouri and Illinois selling candles, dog treats, crafts, furniture, produce and more! There will also be numerous food vendors including Ty’s Summer Sno, Rufus Red Hots, and the Old Country Store Food Truck. The event takes place from 8 am to 5 pm Saturday, September 4th, on the parking lots at the intersection of Broadway and Main Street, and Independence and Main street in downtown Cape Girardeau.

Lastly, all are welcome to celebrate the 160th Anniversary and Fall Muster at Fort D Saturday, Sunday and Monday between 9 am and 3 pm.
