It’s Soup Season!

OK, gang, soup’s on! It’s winter, it’s time to enjoy a warm, comforting bowl of soup to warm you from the inside. But where? We’ve got you covered!

You may not initially think of Vietnamese cuisine when it comes to soup, but have you been to Pho8? What is Pho? Pho is a Vietnamese soup dish consisting of broth, rice noodles, herbs, and meat. And yes, you can get this in town!

Pho 8 offers an extensive menu of Vietnamese cuisine including Pho (soup), Banh Mi (Sandwiches), Goi Cuon (Spring Rolls), and salads. Pho Bo (beef noodle soup) is served with rice vermicelli noodles and a choice of sliced beef or meatballs. Pho Ga (chicken noodle soup) has rice vermicelli, fresh Vietnamese slaw, crushed peanuts, and is topped with grilled pork loin, chicken, beef, tofu, vegetables, or shrimp and you can even add a fried egg! Or, try the Vietnamese Combo Soup with rare beef, sliced tendon, well-done beef, and meatballs.

If you’re more of a traditionalist, stop by My Daddy’s Cheesecake where you’ll always find their delicious chili and a great rotation of soups including tomato bisque, Italian wedding, tomato Florentine, roasted red pepper, broccoli cheese, vegetable beef, cream of potato, buffalo chicken and chicken enchilada. Don’t forget to save room for the locally-made cheesecake! You know what they say, “Life is uncertain. Eat dessert first!”

A Cape Girardeau classic, BG’s Deli is always ready to serve up those famous potato skins, but did you know they also have Pappy’s Potato Soup topped with cheese and bacon or BG’s Chili topped with cheese and white onions?

So many options for a “souper” lunch or dinner! Remember to check out the VisitCape Dining Guide for more delicious options.
