International Day of Persons with Disabilities

December 3 is International Day of the Disabled Persona day to help everyone become more compassionate and understanding of the challenges of having disabilities.

Most of us are blessed with the ability to go where we please, when we please. However, this isn’t the case for many in our community. We wanted to take a moment to highlight some local venues that strive to make outings easier for those with disabilities.

With double doors and a direct route to the hostess station, El Sol rises to the top of the list for a casual meal, and who doesn’t love Mexican food! Head into El Sol for their special pineapple fajitas and a wide variety of margaritas. Ole!

Chili’s is also at the top of the list for local eating establishments. With new wheelchair-accessible sidewalks leading to the front door and wide aisles to navigate, they’re ready and happy to serve up the Tex-Mex and American fare to your liking.

And then there’s everyone’s favorite errand location – Target! The love of Target is universal. Plenty of room to navigate and easy checkout makes this a winner for a one-stop shopping experience. And grab a coffee at Starbucks– that’s an added bonus!

As an alternative to getting out and about, did you know VisitCape has Driving Tours on its website so you can see the sights from the comfort of your car? Now that’s sightseeing at its finest! Especially as the foliage turns and winter sets in!

To explore all Cape has to offer, stay tuned to our  Discover Cape page for shopping, tours, attractions and more! If you aren’t sure if the location is accessible, please call us. We are happy to provide information: 335-1631.
