Hollywood came to town in the Fall of 2013 when Gone Girl was filmed here in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The film opens on October 2, and the community is abuzz with Cape Girardeau’s role as North Carthage on the big screen! Here’s how you can step into the glow of the spotlights with these local events.

Walk the Red Carpet

Gone Girl opens at Cape West 14 Cine on October 2, and for all showings on Thursday October 2 – Sunday October 5 you can walk the red carpet and pose for pictures in front of the official media backdrop as spotlights illuminate the sky – all included with your movie ticket purchase. Excited to dress in your Hollywood best for the opening of Gone Girl – or dreading pulling out the tux? Wear whatever you are comfortable in to best enjoy the red carpet atmosphere at the opening weekend of Gone Girl in Cape Girardeau. Purchase your tickets at the box office or at Wehrenberg.com.

Go Behind the Scenes

Join Chuck Martin, Executive Director of the Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau to learn about the filming of Gone Girl in Cape Girardeau and find out why this river city was selected to masquerade as North Carthage, Missouri at Cape’s Downtown to Tinsel Town: The Filming of Gone Girl at the Cape Girardeau Public Library on Thursday, September 25 at 6:30 p.m.

Find Amazing Amy

Put your detective skills to the test at “The Hunt for Amy: A Gone Girl Themed Scavenger Hunt”! Local Downtown Cape merchants are hosting “The Hunt to Find Amy” scavenger hunt to coincide with the release of the movie Gone Girl, filmed right here along the banks of the Mississippi. Scour downtown to unearth clues and you might win one of our Hollywood Themed prizes!

You can join in all the fun, excitement and intrigue by signing up at the Call for Volunteers on Thursday, September 25, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Cup ‘N’ Cork’s new location,11 South Spanish Street. “Search parties” will be formed, and clues for this fun-filled scavenger hunt will be handed out.

The search parties will have until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 27. After the hunt, searchers will meet at Dockside the Upper Deck, located at 4 N. Spanish Street, for the final mock Press Conference event to be entered to win the grand prize “reward” for finding Amy. 

Opening Night After Parties

Isle Casino Cape Girardeau is proud to host after-parties for the opening nights of Gone Girl in Cape Girardeau.  Parties will take place in Keller’s on October 2 and 3 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. and they are free to attend! Join us for food and drink inspired by the movie, and you might just spy a few props from the movie on display. Whether you were on extra in the movie or someone who watched Cape Girardeau on the big screen, come celebrate the release with us at Keller’s.  Ages 21+.

Movies in Cape Girardeau Through the Years

The Cape River Heritage Museum opens its “Old Cape Movie Theatre” exhibit on October 2, 3 and 4 to coincide with the opening of the movie Gone Girl. Many artifacts, articles and photographs from Cape Girardeau’s oldest movie theatre will be on display. An extended happy hour is featured on Friday October 3.
