April Showers do make for May flowers, but until then, here are some fun things to do inside in Cape Girardeau!

The Great Outdoors: Inside

Get hands on with nature inside the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center.  Kiddos can trace animal prints with crayons, play in the puppet theatre, peer at the wildlife that calls the nature center home, crawl through an oversize beaver dam and spot birds and squirrels from an indoor wildlife viewing station. Exhibits are for all ages, and this facility is 100% free!

Local Shops

With antique shops, specialty stores and boutiques, see what’s new on the shelves with an afternoon of shopping.  Mother’s Day, graduations and Father’s Day are all coming up!  The merchants on Main Street really appreciate the love with the sidewalk project ongoing.

Peruse a Museum

The Cape River Heritage Museum just reopened for the season and has a new roster of refreshed exhibits showcasing life along the Mississippi through the years.  Crisp Museum highlights Native American culture, riverboats and the history of Southeast Missouri, and Discovery Playhouse recently unveiled a brand new second floor packed with hands-on exhibits for older kiddos.

Indoor Inflatable Fun

Safari Playland and Ultimate Air Trampoline Park are great spots to let your kids run wild and burn off some energy, indoors.

Cozy Up with Coffee

Watch the rain come down while you curl up with a cup of coffee and maybe a good book; Dynamite Coffee has a front counter perfect for people watching, and Cup ‘N Cork is right across the street with cozy nooks to kick back in.  You’ll be surrounded by artwork when you settle in at Catapult‘s cafe.
