COVID-19 Actions & Preparation

A Note from VisitCape

Cape Girardeau residents and visitors, your health and safety are our top priorities at this time. Remember to take care of yourself and your family.

Reliable sources for more information on COVID-19 can be found at the WHO and CDC websites.

We are regularly monitoring the updates locally and nationally of the spread of COVID-19.

Previously promoted events may be postponed. If you have a question about a specific event please contact the event planner directly. Planners will announce at a later time if they choose to reschedule their events. These event cancellations are to take precautionary action against the further spread of COVID-19. Please visit our online calendar in the future to see updates.

Many of our Cape Girardeau area restaurants are offering options for pick-up and delivery at this time; please call ahead to order and get the same delicious food to enjoy in the comfort of your own home.

In partnership with several other community organizations, Visit Cape has helped create and curate the website: keepcapestrong.com This website houses updates from our local Health Department, businesses, restaurants, employment and more; please utilize it as a resource during this time.

The following Prevention Guidelines are based on recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), and have been adopted by the VisitCape team:

*Limit your public activity to slow the spread of COVID-19*

Cape Girardeau County Health Department’s Public Health Emergency Proclamation to STAY HOME also applies.

  • Limit your public exposure. Go to work, conduct essential business, and go home.

  • Limit gatherings to groups of 10 or fewer.

  • Implement personal protective measures, such as staying home when ill and washing hands frequently.

  • Avoid non-essential travel.

  • Actively engage in social distancing by staying at least 6 feet from others.

Stay informed about public health recommendations related to COVID-19 and other health threats by visiting www.cdc.gov and the aforementioned WHO websites.
