Colorful Corvettes & Vintage Motorcycles

Cape Girardeau rolled out the welcome mat to the Great Race last June, and the good times are still rolling with Corvettes in Cape: Featuring the Corvette Caravan on August 26 and the Motorcycle Cannonball Run on September 9!

Hundreds of shining Corvettes – both vintage and fresh off the factory floor – will make their way to downtown Cape Girardeau on Tuesday, August 26 for Corvettes in Cape. Local Corvettes are gathering at Capaha Park and will process down Broadway to Main Street at 5:30 p.m. where they’ll be parked for the evening. The Corvette Caravan is staying the night in Cape Girardeau as they travel to the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and they’ll be arriving on Main Street around 6 p.m. This is a once in a lifetime chance to see hundreds of Corvettes in historic downtown Cape Girardeau!

The fun doesn’t stop there! Auto Tire & Parts will have their Nascar Simulator on hand, the Cape Girardeau Police Department will feature Fatal Vision Goggles and the Highway Patrol is bringing along their Seat Belt Convincer. Hot Rod Nights will play Oldies tunes and local restaurants and shops are staying open late. Get your four-legged friend in on the party from 5 – 7:30 p.m. at Mississippi Mutts – they’ll have special bandanas and car-shaped cookies for the pups and malts and shakes for the humans, and their racing flag decorations!

Just two weeks after Corvettes in Cape, the Motorcycle Cannonball Run will stop in Cape Girardeau on Tuesday, September 9. This coast-to-coast motorcycle race features bikes manufactured before 1937 and kicks off in Daytona Beach on September 5 and finishes in Tacoma, Washington on September 21. At 4 p.m. on September 9, Motorcycle Cannonball Riders will begin to arrive in Cape Girardeau after crossing the Mississippi River on the Emerson Bridge. The Day 5 Finish Line is on Spanish Street, and Cannonball bikes as well as local vintage and contemporary bikes will be on display. Local shops and restaurants are staying open to join in on the party, and music from Hot Rod Nights adds to this festive occasion. Cheer on the Motorcycle Cannonball Run riders as they depart downtown Cape Girardeau around 6:45 p.m.!

Free parking and a shuttle ride courtesy of Isle Casino Cape Girardeau make attending both events easier; check out VisitCape.com/CorvettesinCape and VisitCape.com/MotorcycleCannonball for shuttle details.
