Cape’s Parks

As spring is in full swing, it’s time to get outside and enjoy this weather! Did you know Cape is home to over 660 acres of green space? That’s 25 parks! There are playgrounds, paved and natural trails, each one presenting a different special characteristic.

To highlight a few, we start at a park in the middle of town– Dennis Scivally. It’s a small neighborhood park with tall trees and a picturesque stone bridge over Walker Branch Creek. Many high school dance photos have been taken on this bridge! It’s a beautiful park to see in every season – for spring, load up a picnic basket and hang out under the shade trees.

The second park we want to highlight is Fort D, featuring one of four historic forts built by the US army around Cape in 1861 to protect the city from land attacks. Take a moment to know this history and look around once you get on site – the views of the Mississippi River are spectacular. There are even living history and demonstration events held here throughout the year.

If you want to see nature and get some exercise, lace up and hit the trail! Cape is home to just over 6 miles of paved trails via the Cape LaCroix Recreation Trail with plenty of places to park along the route.

Check out the full list of Cape parks and make plans to experience a new park this spring!
