Cape’s Cool Sweet Treats

The saying goes, “Life is like an ice cream; enjoy it before it melts.” And, we agree! Cape is home to many cool sweet treats. Here’s your guide (and permission) to check them all out this summer! Hurry…. add them to your bucket list before they melt!

Locally owned by two sisters, Sugar Chic Creamery scoops up to 16 flavors of ice cream and 8 non-dairy flavors out of their quaint creamery located in historic downtown Cape. With over 100 flavors in the rotation, each time you go, you’ll get the chance to try something different! Or, indulge in a flight of flavors and try five at once!

Have you heard of rolled ice cream? Cape’s Buddy’s Rolled Ice Cream would love you to experience it firsthand as you watch your flavor and fixings get rolled into a cup right in front of your eyes. With flavor combos like chocolate-covered cherries, Twinkies and strawberries (known as the “SEMO Shortcake”) or the number one flavor cookies and cream, rolled ice cream is a must-do!

Gelato in Girardeau? Yes! Soon! Upon opening, Speck Pizza + Street Food will have the only Italian gelato in town, and we can’t wait to try it!

Don’t forget about famous Dairy Queen blizzards and Dilly Bars, or Baskin-Robbins’ 31 flavors on warm Cape Girardeau evenings! Always a classic after a baseball win or celebration with ice cream cakes!

For something other than ice cream, stop by Ty’s Summer Sno, Cape’s shaved ice shop, for some “Tiger’s Blood,” “Polar Punch,” or classic cherry slushy treat. There’s something special about drinking the last of the slush from the foam cup, isn’t there?

If you’re looking for additional eateries during your time in town, remember to visit the VisitCape Dining Guide for ideas on where to go!
