Cape’s Art Scene

Famous Brazilian artist Romero Britto said, “Art is too important not to share.” We agree! Cape has an art scene that’s constantly changing and ready to be explored! From murals to sculptures to galleries, check out VisitCape’s Art Guide for a full listing of places to discover and connect to the art world.

Right off Broadway sits the Painted Wren Art Gallery, where you can browse various works of art and go home with a piece, too! Aaron Horrell and Barb Bailey partnered together to create the gallery which sells paintings, photos, prints, goat milk soap, pottery, quilts, notecards, children’s books and more – all created by local artists!

The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri has the look and feel of a larger community art gallery, with rotating exhibits on white gallery walls. In addition, they host free monthly programs featuring demonstrations, lectures, and sessions with local artists in addition to the popular First Friday with the Arts event focusing on local artists and fun activities. It’s a great Friday night with your family, friends or partner before or after dinner in downtown Cape.

As you plan your gallery trip, remember to visit the VisitCape Dining Guide for ideas on where to go!

How about a driving art tour? Cape Girardeau Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit spans the Broadway corridor, a nine-block span in downtown Cape. They are all unique and it’s fun to guess what the artist was trying to communicate with their work.

We hope this inspires you to broaden your horizons and check out Cape’s art scene!
