Cape Girardeau Springtime Bucket List

The snow has melted, it’s lighter out past 6 p.m., and Spring officially begins today!  This is my favorite season, and here’s what I am looking forward to crossing off my Springtime Bucket List in Cape Girardeau in the next couple of months:

1. Afternoons at the Winery

I want to kick back on a patio, listen to some live music and sample local wines while soaking up the sun.  Apple Creek Vineyard and Winery has gorgeous views of Apple Creek, and Hunter Valley is only 15 minutes away from downtown Cape Girardeau.  I love the pizza and the setting at Thousand Oaks, and even though it’s a little more of a drive, I’ve been wanting to try Hemman Winery since I visited with the owners for a blog post last April.

2.  Farmer’s Markets

I can’t WAIT to get my hands on fresh, locally grown produce at the Cape Farmer’s Market (opening mid-April) and the Cape Riverfront Market (opening May 2).  I’ve missed my farmer buddies this winter, and it’ll be good to see them again and hear how the fruits and veggies are faring this spring.

3. Music under the Stars

With the warmer weather and longer days comes more events and fun goings-on!  Tunes at Twilight kicks off free concerts on the lawn of the Common Pleas Courthouse Gazebo on Friday May 15, and I will be there with my lawn chair and snacks.

4. Springtime on the Trail

Wintry hikes are beautiful, and while I love the silhouettes of bare trees against a blue sky, I am so excited to watch the woods start to green up again!  I hope to hike all of my favorites this Spring, especially Shepphard Point Trail at Trail of Tears State Park since I didn’t get to it in the Fall.

I could go on and on…springtime and Cape Girardeau are a great combo!  What’s on your springtime bucket list?
