Pho 8

3036 William St.

Pho 8 is a Vietnamese restaurant with simple yet satisfying meals. Although the rice and noodle bowls are great, why not try the dish that this place is named after? Pho is a soup made with rice noodles, seasoned with herbs, lime, and jalapeno. You can even customize your pho by choosing which meat selection you’d like: chicken, beef, meatballs, or shrimp.

Insider Tip: A cooler that holds the beverage selection at Pho 8 will have some familiar American soft drinks, but you will also noticed some very different cans and bottles. For those feeling a little adventurous try one of the fruit-flavored Vietnamese sodas or juices for a fun twist to your meal.

Zoi’s Gyros Corner

1865 Broadway St.

Stop in at Zoi’s Gyros Corner for a delicious fare straight from the Mediterranean. This restaurant may be small in size, but Zoi’s food is full of big flavor and healthy options that vegetarians will love, too! Although there are many specialty gyros to order from the traditional gyro is always a go-to favorite. This pita bread sandwich is simple and tasty with tomato, onion, and tzatziki sauce smothered gyro meat. Make sure to get a side of garlic hummus to dip it in for an extra zesty flavor pairing!

Insider Tip: Although it’s not necessarily Mediterranean, the Cajun seasoned fries are highly recommended from Zoi’s. The spice adds a little extra crunch to the fries to make them even more crispy.  The Greek fries are amazing, too!

Katy O’Ferrell’s Publik House

300 Broadway St.

Katy O’Ferrell’s Publik House is the one and only Irish restaurant and bar in Cape Girardeau. Here you’ll find a great variety of old fashioned recipes from the kitchens in Ireland as well as imported Irish beers and spirits. If you love comfort food at it’s finest, the Celtic pot pie is an excellent choice for dinner. The sirloin steak stew is chock full of carrots, celery, potatoes, and onions, all wrapped in a flaky, homemade pie crust. Don’t forget to finish off the meal with a Guinness for a true Irish meal!

Insider Tip: Along with homemade meals, Katy O’Ferrell’s has wonderful homemade desserts as well. Each sweet is paired with signature salty caramel ice cream.

Ciao

Ciao is the one of the best places to find authentic Italian cuisine in southeast Missouri. This fine dining setting will give visitors a true, traditional ristorante experience in both food and atmosphere, you may think you’re actually in Italy! If you’re looking for a wonderful pasta with a Tuscan seafood flare, try the linguine con frutti di mare. The house made linguine noodles are topped with fresh mussels, clams, calamari, and shrimp, garnished with a white wine and garlic sauce, and baked to perfection. The unique and rich flavors from this specialty have made it an instant favorite, and it’s no wonder why.

Insider Tip: For the wine lovers, every single menu item has a different wine paired with it, so make sure to ask your server for the perfect match for your appetizer, salad, or entree. With over 50 fine Italian wines available you won’t be disappointed by their selection.

Another new internationally flavored eatery has arrived in Cape Girardeau – Milk & Honey Cafe serves up homemade Russian food, including blinis, honey cake and fresh baked goodies to take home.  If you’ve been (we haven’t made it yet!), what should we order?
