A Booklover’s Guide to Cape Girardeau

It’s National Read a Book Day, so get ready to peruse the shelves for your next read at one of these Cape Girardeau bookstores!

Cape’s locally owned, independent bookstore is the Book Rack. Meticulously organized and with thousands of titles to choose from, the Book Rack also offers the option to trade in your used books for store credit.  The cheerful children’s department gives your kiddos a place to park it while you browse.

Annie Laurie’s Antiques is not a dedicated book store, but this funky vintage emporium has fun pockets of books scattered throughout their one-of-a-kind finds, and makes book shopping into a bit of a treasure hunt.

Barnes and Noble is a go-to all across the country, and our local store is located in West Park Mall – making this an ideal spot to while away time while your friend or partner shops!  Fuel up at the sunny cafe and work your way down that to-read list.

If you’re serious about stocking up on books, don’t miss the Cape Public Library‘s semi-annual book sale this weekend.  Friday September 9 from 6 -8 p.m., Saturday September 10 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m .and Sunday September 11 from 1 – 5 p.m., peruse tables loaded down with books organized by genre for rock bottom prices.  Games, puzzles, magazines, records and more are also offered.  Proceeds go straight back to the library, so you’ll be shopping for a great cause!

Happy reading, and may the odds be ever in your favor as you shop the shelves of Cape Girardeau’s book stores!
