Neumeyer's Bed and Breakfast photos

Dear Friends,

Come stay with us at Neumeyer's Bed & Breakfast. Whether you visit us during a getaway weekend, a celebration or business trip, you are invited to partake of the comfort and hospitality we offer.

In the European tradition, our bed and breakfast is not an inn, but our private home, open for a few guests to enjoy an atmosphere unavailable in commercial lodging.

After a hearty breakfast, you may choose to explore diversions in the city and surrounding countryside, or simply relax here. In the evening we offer you refreshments on the verandah or in front of a warm fire, depending on the season.

Our guests have the opportunity to experience our home's tranquil warmth, reminiscent of a visit to Grandma's house in days gone by. When was the last time you sipped a drink while sitting on a porch swing? We still observe the gentle amenities of life here.

The door is open and the light is in the window. We look forward to meeting you.

Sincerely,

Tom and Terri Neumeyer

Neumeyer's Bed & Breakfast is located in this Craftsman style home near several attractions in downtown Cape Girardeau. Each of the three guest rooms has a private bath. Two of the rooms are recently remodeled, with wood-covered cathedral ceiling and new decor. Guests enjoy relaxing on the rocking chairs inside by the fireplace and on the porch.

Come experience
a relaxing change of pace

Built in 1910, our house is one of the first to be constructed here un the Craftsman bungalow style. This approach provided comfortable family homes, in contrast to the formal Victorian style homes.

A wide verandah, furnished with a porch swing and rocking chairs, reaches across the front and side. The living room, den and dining room are set off by original oak wainscoting, ceiling beams, bookshelves and cabinets, and by expansive windows, crystal chandeliers and fireplaces. You can relax with a good book inside or out, depending on the season.

Three bedrooms upstairs are available for our guests, each with antique furnishings. Our home retains the aura of its proud heritage, while providing modern day comfort with central air conditioning, queen-size beds and ceiling fans. Each room has a modern private bath for your convenience.

The aroma of fresh coffee and baked breads drifting up the stairway will greet you in the morning. We serve a hearty breakfast of egg casseroles, waffles, and a variety of other dishes.

The resident cat makes friends easily and imparts a purr with a little prodding.

We are situated in Cape Girardeau's historic riverside district, within walking distance of the Mississippi River, downtown, excellent restaurants, and historic buildings.

Nearby you can visit many attractions, including antique shops, beautiful city and state parks, year-round swimming and ice skating, golf courses, a passenger steam train, historic sites, annual festivals and theaters.
