Free concerts under the stars on a hill overlooking the Mighty Mississippi are back with Tunes at Twilight, kicking off Friday May 12th at 7 p.m.! The Spring season continues every Friday for six weeks on May 19, May 26, June 2, June 9 and June 16.
Here's a sneak peek at what you'll hear on the Common Pleas Courthouse lawn at one of these free, award-winning concerts this spring:
May 12: The Gordons are a husband and wife duo who were baptized by bluegrass and have been making folk music ever since with their guitar and Appalachian autoharp.
May 19: Dennis Stroughmatt et l'Esprit Creole. No stranger to our river city, Dennis Stroughmatt and company take you on a musical journey into Upper Louisana Creole Culture. A blend of Celtic, Canadian and Old Time sounds, this music has been preserved by families in the Ozark foothills and has been handed down for over 300 years.
May 26: Maggie Thorn is a southeast Missouri native, and brings her highly personal brand of country music to the gazebo stage.
June 2: Gary Nicholson is a veteran songwriter boasting a unique blend of country, rock, blues, folk, bluegrass and pop.
June 9: Moho Trippers. Jazz vocalist Annie Sellick and master guitarist Pat Bergeson combine their talents at the Moho Trippers with jazz standards, soulful originals and carabet classics.
June 16: Kimberly Dahme might look familiar to you from her stint with Boston, but this singer-songwriter performs her own mix of classic rock and blues with a dash of contemporary country.
Pack a chilled drink of your choice, a tasty snack and bring along a picnic blanket or lawn chair for these free concerts on the lawn of the Common Pleas Courthouse. Tunes at Twilight is the perfect way to kick off your weekend in Cape Girardeau!
The Fall season gets rocking on August 11 at 6:30 p.m. and continues August 18, 25, September 1, 8 and 15, 2017.
