It's a New Year, New You, and those resolutions can be tough to uphold when you're traveling. We've rounded up fitness options in Cape Girardeau ranging from Crossfit to yoga in to help you keep up the good work!
The SEMO Recreation Center has an indoor track on days when the weather isn't cooperating, but if you can get outside, Cape's fitness trails are outstanding! The paved Riverfront Trail runs right along the Mighty Mississippi, and if you start at the Themis floodgate, run north across the new bridge that leads to Red Star Access, hop on Second Street to Big Bend, and take Big Bend to Main Street, ending at Themis Street, you've got yourself an awfully scenic two mile loop.
The well-trafficked Cape LaCroix Recreation Trail runs for over 5 miles with many handy access points, water fountains and restrooms through the heart of town. An open air free weights center by the tennis courts is a convenient addition.
Trail runners will love the rugged terrain with challenging hills and turns at Klaus Park's heavily wooded three mile loop.
The City of Cape Girardeau has two open gym facilities with a drop-in rate of only $2; the Osage Centre on the north side of town and the Shawnee Park Center on the south side of Cape Girardeau.
Muddy Water Crossfit can be your box when you're in Cape Girardeau, just give them a call and book your spot ahead of time!
A wide variety of barre classes, aerial silks and yoga fill the class schedule at The Edge, located close to Exit 96 and many hotels. In downtown Cape Girardeau, Yoga East offers heated Hatha Yoga, candlelit restorative yoga and many more class options.
Central Pool is open year round thanks to "the bubble" and features very affordable fitness swimming prices. Fitness Plus, HealthPoint Fitness and the SEMO Recreation Center all feature pools to get those laps in.
We hope this helps staying on top of your 2017 resolutions during your stay in Cape Girardeau!
