Event: An Evening of Remembrance: A Commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Cape Girardeau

Location: The actual battle site of the Battle of Cape Girardeau near Grace United Methodist Church, 521 Caruthers Street
Description: The program will run as follows:
6:30 p.m. - Gather on Grace United Methodist Church’s north lawn for a brief outdoor introduction and visual orientation from Scott House, Chairman of the Cape Girardeau Historic Preservation Commission and Civil War reenactor, as to where key elements in the
Battle of Cape Girardeau would have been located.
6:45 p.m. - Move inside to Grace United Methodist Church’s lower level meeting room. (Signage will direct you to the correct room.)
6:55 p.m. - Cape Girardeau Mayor Harry Rediger will welcome those in attendance.
Pastor Tom Sullenger, Senior Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, will give an opening prayer with a moment of silence in remembrance of those who died to preserve the Union 150 years ago that day as well as a remembrance of those who are still in harms way today, fighting around the world to preserve our nation’s freedoms.
7:00 p.m. - Program and presentation by Scott House.
7:45 p.m. - Conclusion of Program and Refreshments.
